In September 2021, GNMI and Zhejiang University jointly established the “ZJU&GNMI New Materials Joint R&D Center”. We have gathered a group of highly educated and high-level scientific and technological innovation professionals with professor, doctoral, master’s degrees, etc., jointly committed to the research and development of formulas, processes, equipment, and applications related to high-performance surface materials, synthetic mica materials, and new energy materials.
GNMI and ZJU will continue to deepen industry university research cooperation, enhance independent innovation capabilities, drive high-quality development of both schools and enterprises through technological innovation, promote the cultivation of talents in the surface performance materials industry and the improvement of enterprise technological innovation capabilities, and achieve the win-win goal of “building an international first-class joint research and development platform for new materials and intelligent manufacturing”.
With the joint efforts of the joint research and development team, phased achievements have been made in the research and development of battery separator materials, insulation materials, and other aspects. Multiple new energy battery insulation and flame retardant materials based on synthetic mica have been developed.
The GNMI “New Energy Battery Materials Laboratory” currently has a complete set of new energy battery material research and development functional rooms, including substrate processing room, surface treatment room, and material preparation room, and is equipped with advanced experimental instruments and equipment.
The laboratory will be based on the forefront of new energy battery materials, focusing on the optimization of battery performance and safety issues that need to be addressed in the field of new energy battery material technology. The focus will be on researching key materials that restrict the development of the new energy vehicle industry, such as insulation systems based on synthetic mica and battery separator materials.
