[Company News] On April 25, 2025, the 100,000-ton high-performance mica production project of Global New Material International in Tonglu reached a major milestone – the successful topping out of the office building, R&D building and staff dormitory building marked the initiation of interior decoration and equipment installation, and laid a solid foundation for the subsequent high-quality production and full engagement of the team.
At the topping-out ceremony, Jin Zengqin, Executive Director and Vice President of GNMI, along with the core team of the project, witnessed this crucial moment. As an important strategic project of GNMI’s layout for the next decade, the rapid progress of the Tonglu base materialized with strong support and safeguard of the governments at all levels of Zhejiang Province, Hangzhou City and Tonglu County, Mr. Jin said. The timely topping out of the main building complex not only reflected execution and engineering management level, but also represented a phased victory for GNMI in its firm implementation of the strategy of “New Materials Build A Strong Country” .
This project is an important part of the global layout of GNMI and a core growth point created under the development strategy of “new materials + innovation + all-scenario”. It focuses on the research and development and industrialization of high-performance synthetic mica materials in cutting-edge fields such as new energy power systems, aerospace thermal management, intelligent manufacturing surface treatment, high-end electronic packaging, and green building functional coatings. In the future, it will effectively address the global supply and demand imbalance of high-quality mica materials and help China’s new materials technology achieve a leap from “following” to “leading” status.
The R&D building will focus on the core research and industrial transformation of materials science, and build an application innovation platform for high-performance mica for the global market; The modern office building and the intelligent staff dormitory building adhered to the green building and human-oriented concept, comprehensively benchmarking against international first-class standards in terms of energy conservation and environmental protection, comfort and livability, and intelligent management, providing a solid guarantee for attracting global high-end scientific research and industrial talents.
The Tonglu project is also a model project for the implementation of the sustainable development strategy. Throughout the entire construction, the project adhered to the concepts of green construction, clean energy utilization and low carbon emissions, and actively promoted the construction of the ESG (Environment, Society and Governance) system. It will become an important model for the implementation of GNMI’s “green manufacturing” and “global responsibility” concepts in East China.
At present, the project team is seizing the golden period of construction and making every effort to advance the interior finishing and the installation of core equipment. Thanks to Tonglu’s geographical advantages, manufacturing foundation and government policy support, the project will be deeply integrated with the local upstream and downstream industrial chains, drive the development of the regional new materials cluster, boost the construction of the “415X” advanced manufacturing cluster in Zhejiang Province, and become an important platform of the national “new quality productivity” strategy in the field of materials.
